Recovery Center Details
Wilderness Recovery Center
Wilderness Recovery Center is a wilderness treatment center,
an adolescent residential treatment center for adolescent
addiction treatment and teen substance abuse for adolescent
males 14-18.
Our adolescent residential treatment center program is designed
to address emotional, behavioral, and developmental disorders
that are often associated with the teen substance abuse issues
our boys are currently experiencing. In addition to being
licensed by the California Department of Social Services our
program is certified by the State Department of Alcohol and
Drug. Our ranch provides an excellent setting for the
educational and therapeutic programs we offer. We are located
approximately 35 miles east of Redding, California on a 200
acre apple ranch. Our physical layout allows us to function
much like a small community with the residents living in
three six-bed houses; of which one is large enough to function
as a community center for therapeutic groups, dining and an
occasional social gathering. This location allows us access to
many northern California wilderness areas, including the Trinity
Alps, Shasta Lake, Lassen Volcanic National Park and many
other recreational areas that are the foundation for the
wilderness component of our program.
What we believe
We believe in the ability of recovery practices to change the
minds and hearts of teen boys.
What problem do we solve
Adolescent males, ages 14-18, who are actively in teen
substance abuse addiction and demonstrate emotional,
behavioral and developmental disorders lack education in day-
to-day therapeutic practices to re-direct their lives in a positive
direction.
How we solve the problem
We are one of the 'last chance' adolescent residential treatment
centers for teen boys. Our treatment model is integrated to
practice therapeutic principles involving all life aspects of the
resident. From "get up" to "lights out" therapy is an ongoing
process.
How we impact the community
As our young boys 'grow-up' with new learning, as they put into
practice this new learning and create a different life experience
than they have had previously, they become a contributor to
society. Our graduates call and let us know how they are doing.
And, grateful parents and satisfied Probations Officers let us
know we made a difference!
Why do we do it
We are passionate about the opportunity to provide 'real-life'
practices for our boys to create a prosperous life away from teen
substance abuse and to give them understanding and hope even
when they think there is none.
Why we are different
Our adolescent residential treatment center facility layout and
location allows us to function much like a small community with
the residents living in three six-bed houses. This location also
allows us access to many northern California wilderness areas
that are the foundation of the wilderness component of our
program.

Dean's Wilderness Experience Poem:
They cry in the dark
so you can't see their tears.
They hide in the light
so you can't see their fears.
Love and pain become one
and the same in the eyes of a
wounded child.
~Dean
Justin's Wilderness Experience Poem:
There was rain
There was fog
There was true feelings about my
being
I was angry
I was sad
I was happy
I was glad
with nobody there to cause
those feelings but me,
I learned that I am my own
worst enemy.
~Justin
